Golden Globe nominations are out and if you think I'm about to run down the full list, you're reading the wrong newsletter. I will, however, shine a necessary light on the black actors and filmmakers that made Hollywood a lot less boring in 2018.

Let's start with "Black Panther," which nabbed three nominations including Best Picture, making it the first comic book film to be nominated in the category. That's HUGE. "If Beale Street Could Talk" and "BlacKkKlansman" got recognition as well with Barry Jenkins, Regina King, Spike Lee and John David Washington, Regina King receiving nominations. Get into the list and peep all the black excellence shining through!
