My older son — who is remote learning at least through the fall — tends to give me short answers to questions like, “What did you read about today?” “How was remote class?” “What was your favorite thing you did today?” And I don’t blame him. It’s been a tough year.
That’s why I need — and will use immediately — this piece by senior reporter Catherine Pearson about questions to ask your kids to gauge their mental health right now. In it, she offers expert-recommended questions that will give you a better sense of how your kid is coping these days. If you need to tweak your existing daily questions, or are in need of a whole redo, try them out.
Be well, friends,

This has been SUCH a challenging year in so many different ways. And while, yes, kids are resilient, they’re still losing (at least) a year of normalcy. What will this loss do to our kids, in terms of academics, the haves and have-nots and what happens next? Senior reporter Catherine Pearson spoke with a variety of experts to find out their thoughts. |
