Plus, are you a bad friend?

This week, we launched “Blissed Connections,” an editorial series that explores practical ways to strengthen and deepen the relationships you have — or want to have — with the most important people in your life.
You may think that’s impossible with the pandemic raging, but we think it’s actually a great time to do it. Sure, you may not be able to see family and friends in person but that doesn’t mean you can’t get on the phone or Zoom for some heartfelt conversations. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our plans with any given person — going to a hot new restaurant or a concert, for example — that we don’t take the time to actually bond while we’re there. And the casual texting we’re so accustomed to doesn’t lend itself to real bonding, either.
This is a good place to start: 35 meaningful questions to ask your grandparents and another set of questions you probably never thought to ask your siblings, but should. The answers will be enlightening!

How are your friendships these days? Lacking? Robust? Chances are, it’s the former (thanks for that, COVID). During these moments, it’s easy to place the blame on our friends — they’re not reaching out enough, they’re too wrapped up in their own stuff, etc. But it could actually be you that’s the problem. |

There’s never been a better time to find a pen pal. Why not make a new friend or strengthen an existing friendship all while supporting the USPS? Many retirement communities have started pen pal programs to help residents combat loneliness during the pandemic, or you can find a global pen pal with similar interests through different sites and Facebook groups. |
