Recently, we turned to wedding coordinators: After all, they spend loads of time with the engaged couple leading up to the wedding. And, I can tell you from experience, the stress of wedding planning can take a toll on even the most solid pairs. Some of their tell-tale signs a couple will ultimately split up? They couldn’t care less about the wedding, they treat their vendors poorly and they make sneak decisions about the wedding behind the other’s backs. Regina Young, owner of Meant2Be Events in Scottsdale, Arizona, has seen this firsthand. “On one occasion, I had a bride change half of the music directly with the band instead of going with the list that the groom had compiled with her help,” she told us. “The groom was so upset thinking the band had played the wrong song for their first dance, he walked off the dance floor to yell at the vendor... It was only then that he realized his wife had gone behind his back to make those changes.” Read on for more signs a couple won’t last, according to planners. Aaron Anderson, a marriage and family therapist based in Denver, Colorado, is here to answer this week’s question. Here’s what he had to say: "First of all, it’s important for him to maintain a functional relationship with his ex as they are co-parents together and all. Because they will always need to maintain a healthy relationship, the opportunity for them to get back together will always exist. But remember a couple things: They broke up for a reason. And despite how many times you hear about couples breaking up and getting back together, it’s actually very rare for a couple who have kids together to do this. There’s a lot more that happens during a breakup in cases when there are kids involved so if they’re going to break up, they’re usually absolutely positive that’s what they want to do. There’s not a lot you can do to keep him from going back to his ex. If he’s going to do it, he’s going to do it. The trick, then, is for you to work on your self-esteem and feelings of self-worth so that you feel confident he would never want to leave you. If you do this and he ends up leaving you for his ex anyway, you’ll be in a great place personally and you’ll be able to confidently ride the turmoil that inevitably comes with a breakup and confidently move on to greener pastures afterwards."   #TBT A few weeks ago, we published a story on what marriage experts think about couples who fart in front of each other.
