We've lost yet another Hollywood giant this week. John Witherspoon, star of 'Friday,' 'Boondocks' and other classic features, died on Wednesday in his sleep at the age of 77. Celebrities including Regina King, Marlon Wayans and Ice Cube gave heartfelt tributes to the comedian. Rest in power, pops. 


Also this week, 'Harriet' releases nationwide. Culture writer Zeba Blay spoke to the director Kasi Lemmons about the controversy her film is bringing. She discussed the Cynthia Erivo backlash and why we need more films that deal with slavery. Read her piece here
