Shoehorning anti-abortion language into the tax law. The tax reform bill proposed by Senate Republicans last week includes a provision that would allow fetuses to take out tax-advantaged 529 college savings accounts. Here's the thing though: There's no reason for this provision. Expecting parents can already open 529s before a child is born.  The tax bill is just the most recent example of Republicans trying to sneak what's called "personhood" language into federal law.
