I won’t be dissecting the news of the week here; instead, the culture I’m talking about is why we are the way we are (insert my favorite Michael Scott gif of him asking Toby why he is the way he is). But first, a little bit about me. I've been at HuffPost for 7.5 years, and in my time here I've launched and run the Travel section and helped oversee our Voices department. I'm taking all that experience with me in my new role on Life.Here, I’ll give you context and guidance on how we live now -- how we parent, work, commute, talk, even how we use Google. I’ll provide etiquette tips, a great visual from a story that week (whether it’s a comic, like below, or a stunning photograph), and a long read from the internet that I think speaks to something now.Up first this week are Dictionary.com’s “word of the year”, an excellent piece about the history of Sears (sounds dry, but it’s actually not), and a dad’s comics that aim to teach his children empathy, respect and kindness.See you next week!KateP.S.
