Anyone else so over winter?I was born and raised in Florida, where "cold" is defined as "anything below 60 degrees." I had never experienced a real winter before moving to New York. And now with five of them under my belt, I have to say I'm not a fan. (PSA: Bomb cyclones are as bitter and awful as they sound.)We may have several more agonizing weeks of winter, but at least we can arm ourselves with techniques to deal with it. Stay warm (and healthy)! Turn up the Wellness Jams Wellness Jams is a curated workout or relaxing playlist from celebrities, influencers and readers. This week, I invited readers to curate the tunes by asking them to share the most "embarrassing" song on their workout playlist. The mix includes hilarious yet surprisingly effective exercise songs below: I was on a run (okay, jog) this weekend when I noticed I naturally picked up my pace toward the end of the first mile. I didn't purposefully commit to this — I typically slow down before the mile is even up — but my body and mind seemed to take over. It took about 30 seconds for me to realize it was the song blaring through my headphones that had me trotting faster than normal. The jam? "Baby" by Justin Bieber and Ludacris. Cringeworthy, but surprisingly effective.I figured I wasn’t the only one who had "embarrassing" music that motivated me through my workout. So, I informally asked Twitter and my friends to share their "shameful" exercise songs. The results were a mix of nostalgic tunes and catchy beats that pushed them through strength training and cardio. Hey, whatever works, right? Selena Gomez on the therapeutic perks of exercise: "If I don't work out, I feel heavy. Everything about me just feels a little bit down. And sometimes I will just run on the treadmill and get emotional because it sort of relieves everything that you're feeling." Gabourey Sidibe on body image: "One day, I had to sit down with myself and decide that I loved myself no matter what my body looked like and what other people thought about my body." No moon dust. No B.S. Just a completely essential daily guide to achieving the good life. Subscribe here. Like what you see? Share it.Can't get enough?
