I talk about therapy a lot.I gab about it casually with my friends. I write about how it affects dating and work. For me, therapy is one of the main ways I practice self care. (I also get my nails done and watch reruns of Vanderpump Rules on Bravo. It’s all about balance, right?)Therapy is a vital way for me to work through anxiety surrounding my life and the world around me. And given the latest current events — like a mass shooting that hit a little too close to home — going regularly feels more important than ever. It’s just like any other doctors’ appointment.I know therapy isn’t possible for everyone. There are barriers like cost, access to treatment and, sadly, stigma. But it’s time to chip away at those roadblocks so you can start putting yourself first.Taking care of your mind is just as important as tending to your body. Don’t forget it.
