Hi friends!

It’s Ashley Rockman, senior editor of HuffPost Relationships, back from parental leave. It’s pretty tempting to fill this newsletter with pics of my baby, but that’s not what you came here for so I’ll keep it professional šŸ˜‚. Well, as professional as I can be in a newsletter about love and sex that can be pretty NSFW at times…

Take, for example, this informational explainer on anal sex and anal fissures and this one about how to make sex less painful when you have endometriosis. Helpful and sexy! If there is ever a topic you want to see covered here in this newsletter or on the site please e-mail it to us at relationships@huffpost.com — we’d love to hear from you!

Xo, Ashley Rockman

In case you missed it

Imagine this: You match with someone on a dating app and naturally go to look them up on Facebook and Instagram… and find nothing. Would that be a red flag? An indication you’re being catfished? Or, perhaps, intriguing? Senior reporter Brittany Wong (who has been writing this email in my absence!) examined what it’s like to date someone with no social media presence. See if it’s a pro or a con.

Pro or con?

Nurse crying after tough shift

A few weeks ago, a woman posted an emotional pic of her twin sister, who is a labor and delivery nurse, on Facebook. The photo depicts nurse Caty Nixon exhausted and in tears after working four shifts in a row — over 53 hours — and delivering a stillborn baby. The post reads: “[Caty] is so good at what she does that she often forgets how to take care of herself while she’s taking care of her patient.” She continued, “Have you guys ever really thought about what a labor & delivery nurse sees? They see great joy in smooth deliveries & healthy moms & babies. they see panic and anxiety when a new mom is scared. they see fear when a stat c-section is called.”
