Click here       After the mass shooting in Las Vegas, people are calling on Congress to do more than send thoughts and prayers — and take real action. The nation is still reeling after a mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert, where at least 59 people were killed and hundreds injured. As the media covered the event, people pointed out where it missed the mark: For one, calling the massacre the “deadliest shooting in U.S. history” is wrong, and erases our nation’s racist, violent past. News about the shooter also showed a familiar double standard in how the media portrays white killers, versus non-white or Muslim ones. In the aftermath of the shooting, everyone from TV hosts Seth Meyers and Jimmy Kimmel to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords — who survived a 2011 mass shooting herself — called on politicians to do more than just send thoughts and prayers, and actually take policy action.   LEARN MORE   White supremacy won't fall with just a few statues.
