"My shirt actually says #ConstantlyPositive because that’s the vibe I want to give everyone no matter where I'm at."John started promoting hopeful ideas several years ago, with a specific focus on suicide prevention among young adults. He said the hashtag #ConstantlyPositive, which uses the same starting letters as cerebral palsy, is his "life story.""A lot of people look at me and my disability and my crutches and the way that I walk and assume that it’s a negative thing, and for me, it has always been a positive thing," John said. "I want to use my story to encourage other people.”The positive spirit and diversity of Kansas City make the city a great fit for him, he said. “I love it because it has a little bit of everything. It gives me opportunities to go to concerts and sporting events, lots of different things.”It's estimated that transgender men and women serve in the military in disproportionately higher numbers than the general population.
