During the Listen To America bus tour stop in Detroit, Alanna Vagianos met Jesse Terrell. The 67-year-old writer was born and raised in the city, and said he has seen it evolve drastically since he was a young boy. "Detroit has changed a lot. We've lost a lot of inhabitants over time, but overall the city is doing well right now," Jesse said. "For the most part the change is rather refreshing. A lot of the stores downtown are coming back and it's really refreshing the city." Jesse said gentrification came with the change, and that he wished the community could come together during this revitalizing time. "For the most part, people are receptive of other people in this city. But underneath it all, there's racism still," he said. "My desire is for racism to go. And the only way that it can is that those individuals involved must take it upon themselves to end it. We know that the powerless cannot be racist; we don't control anything. The only way to end the chaos that is happening all around us is to come together." The U.S. government would have you believe there are more terrorists or potential terrorists per capita in Dearborn, Michigan, than anywhere else in the country. The government has a watchlist of “known or suspected terrorists” that multiple agencies, including the FBI, use. Documents leaked in 2014 showed that New York City, which has a population of over 8 million, had the most residents on the list. At number two was Dearborn, with a population of about 95,000.It is nearly impossible to find out if you’re on the watchlist, let alone remove your name from it. HuffPost partnered with The Arab American News to investigate. “Although Michigan has about 70 mosques spread out across the state, with the majority of them in Southeast Michigan, it is not immune to the toxic, anti-Muslim, xenophobic rhetoric spread by President Donald Trump,” writes contributor Nargis Rahman.
