Plus, a primer on sexual fantasies

If you’ve been fighting more with your partner these days, you’re not alone. We’re living through a global pandemic, and with that comes fears about health, finances and family. If you’re not arguing about those things specifically, the underlying stress of it all probably means tiny issues have become huge disagreements — maybe even adult-size temper tantrums. Plus, you have few other outlets to bond or blow off steam — no movies to go to or concerts to see with friends.
“When you’re suppressing emotions, even a small incident can turn into an explosion,” Los Angeles marriage and family therapist Abigail Makepeace told us. “This is because those emotions have been begging for an outlet, and being upset with your partner presents an opportunity for their expression. In a way, the dirty dishes left in the sink become a portal to yell and scream.”
I know I’ve been there. Here are six common fights couples are having during the coronavirus pandemic, and how to deal.
