I know a few people — our own Senior Reporter Kelsey Borresen included! — who recently adopted dogs. With everyone stuck at home, now seems like the perfect time for a new BFF, particularly a furry one you can cuddle and actually spend time with in person. But the adoption process wasn't quick or easy: Many applications were sent and most went unanswered.
Why is that? Experts we spoke to said that animal rescues and shelters have been dealing with limited staffing and an influx of applications during the pandemic. So if you don't hear back about a pup right away, be patient and don't get discouraged. Here are some tips on how to make your application stand out.
