Intermittent fasting has been around for a while, but interest in it is stronger than ever (thanks, New Year's resolutions!). Reporter Julia Ries talked to experts on the good and bad things you can expect if you try the eating plan.

THIS IS YOUR BODY AND BRAIN ON INTERMITTENT FASTING

The reason we explore these fads is because it's important to have all the facts before you transform the way you eat. Most diets aren't one-size-fits-all. Some may find intermittent fasting extremely beneficial, while others may find it worthless.

Just make sure you ultimately commit to something that's not going to mess up your relationship with food or completely take over your life (which often means not dieting at all).

Lindsay

Most people are familiar with endometriosis, but there's another, similar women's health issue that most don't know about called adenomyosis. It's pretty common and it's easily misdiagnosed or dismissed. Reporter Julia Ries broke down the symptoms and why it's often unrecognized.

A minute and change

Got a spare minute? Use it to change your life. Our "A Minute And Change" series will help you become happier, healthier and more productive by doing one thing a little differently. This week's tip comes from country singer Carly Pearce on the mantra she uses when she's struggling. She told Health:

The mantra that I feel like has influenced me in a huge way is, 'there is beauty in vulnerability.' ... When I’m talking to anybody or just being Carly or playing a show or on social media, I really try to just really speak my truth and not be afraid of vulnerability. Because if we're all the same and we all pretended that everything was OK, we wouldn’t have the scars and the grit and the just little ins and outs of things that make us, us.

Before you go...

Read this piece on Goop's latest wellness venture and why it's (probably) bad news. Basically, see a doctor if you're looking for health advice. Anything from Goop is probably just a bunch of, well, goop.
