My heart is hurting for the families of Kobe and Gianna Bryant and all the others who died in the California helicopter crash yesterday. If you're feeling distressed over what happened, know that it's not weird or abnormal. Mental health experts say that it's perfectly valid to feel grief over the death of a celebrity or someone who passes away so publicly and suddenly.

Sadly, I wrote a story on how to manage this form of grief a few years ago and it continues to be relevant. I'm sharing it with you in case you or anyone you know might need it.

HOW TO DEAL WITH GRIEF OVER A CELEBRITY DEATH

Whatever you're feeling about the situation, the events are a tragic reminder that every moment in life is precious. Sending everyone good thoughts today.

❤️,

Lindsay

My latest Netflix obsession is "Cheer," a docuseries that follows the lives of the cheerleading team at Navarro College in Texas. The level of skill these athletes posess is truly unbelievable. Cheerleading is a tough, competetive sport ― one that has a huge affect on your mind and body. Reporter Caroline Bologna looked into all the ways it can impact a person physically and mentally.

A minute and change

Got a spare minute? Use it to change your life. Our "A Minute And Change" series will help you become happier, healthier and more productive by doing one thing a little differently. This week's tip comes from New Jersey-based therapist Danielle Forshee on what she does when she's experiencing any level of grief, which is cry:

From a psychological perspective, we believe that we achieve emotional release through crying in order to return to a state of psychological homeostasis. ... We need that cry to be able to come back to level ground emotionally.
