Happy Friday!I hope you're hungry, because this week's featured recipe is a stunner. Today I'll explain why you need to make a Goat Cheese and Roasted Garlic Beehive, I'll share my cookbook pick of the week and tell you a truly funky fact about cheese that'll give you an "aha" moment.Love,Kristen Aiken Senior Editor, Taste and Style The best holiday appetizer I've ever made You know a dish is a hit when guests come back after the party to ask if there’s any left over. That’s what happened when I made this Goat Cheese and Roasted Garlic Beehive a few years ago, and I’ve been making it every year since. Goat cheese and roasted garlic paste are layered in a bowl, chilled, and unmolded in a beehive-like shape before being drizzled with warm honey. Spread it on crackers or bread, and it's heavenly. This dish has everything you could want: it's creamy, tangy, salty and sweet. Plus, it's an absolute showstopper. Just look at it. (And if you're lucky enough to have leftovers, it's the perfect TV-watching snack.) Ever notice that goat cheese sometimes smells a little — well, goaty? You’re not imagining it. This happens when does (female goats) are milked too close to the bucks, who are known for their strong, musky odor. Milk is a sponge for aromas, so you can detect the scent when the cheese has been made or stored too close to stinky billy goats. The cookbook I'm buying for my mom (shh) I used to work for Martha Stewart, and to this day I still trust her cookbooks more than just about anyone's (hint: always just add a little more seasoning than she calls for). This 2017 book, Martha Stewart's Slow Cooker, is filled with simple-yet-special recipes for anyone who has no idea what to do with their Crock Pot (i.e. my mom). It's only $13 on Amazon right now and can be shipped in a jiffy. That's "a good thing." No moon dust. No B.S. Just a completely essential daily guide to achieving the good life. Subscribe here.
