No Images? Click here Hi friends,I like to think I devoted this week in particular to useful parenting journalism, mostly around our children and their schools, in various forms.Do you struggle to know what to put in your kids' lunch? I certainly do. My older son will only eat chicken and peppers for basically every meal. Healthy, sure. Well-balanced? Not exactly. And I know I’m not alone in this. We asked some nutritionists what they pack in their kids lunches. Bon appetit, little ones. Also, Taylor Pittman talked to educators about what parents SHOULD be asking at parent-teacher conferences. Some of their answers may surprise you.If, like me, you had a parent say “goodnight, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite,” you’re going to want to read the explanation of that actually kinda-creepy-especially-if-you-live-in-a-city phrase. Turns out, it’s a phrase that has a very interesting backstory.Lastly, we are going to be tackling the topic of speaking with your kids — across a range of ages — about sex. If you’ve had a particularly good conversation with your kids, I’d love to know more. For when your kid is keeping you awake HuffPost’s new Personal section delves into -- you guessed it -- the personal story of people around the globe. This week, they published a woman’s account of having a “geriatric pregnancy” and how surprisingly happy motherhood made her later in life. It’s a sweet story of coming-of-age on your own terms.More stories from the trenches: A guide to helping you raise the kind of person you'd like to know.Love what you see? Send it to a friend.
