No Images? Click here Welcome to week four of HuffPost’s revamped newsletter about hate and extremism in America! Every week, reporters Luke O'Brien and Christopher Mathias will bring you news and insight from the dark corners of our increasingly polarized political system. From resurgent white nationalists and anti-government militia to social media propagandists and internet trolls, we’ll cover the characters and conversations from around the lunatic fringe. We’ll also look at the far left anti-fascist groups that battle the far right online and in the streets. Marc Randazza, attorney to the trolls and current $500/hour barrister for Nazi super-fugitive, Andrew Anglin, made a secret visit to Anglin’s hometown of Columbus on Monday. Well, at least Randazza thought it would be secret. HuffPost went and blew up his spot. What ensued was a zany chase to find Anglin that roped in process servers, local longhairs and a treacherous VICE News television crew. We’ve already covered how Anglin, the proprietor of neo-Nazi tabloid and violent internet radicalization hub The Daily Stormer, has been hiding from a federal lawsuit brought against him by Tanya Gersh, a Jewish realtor in Montana. Anglin has told the judge that he lives beyond the jurisdiction of any federal court as a “stateless citizen” domiciled abroad in a location he refuses to disclose. (Nigeria, Russia and Cambodia are all options that Randazza has suggested.) It’s a legal argument that comes off as a troll-job, especially considering that a process server hired to find Anglin swears he saw the diminutive fascist in a Columbus-area grocery store last month. So when Anglin’s sewer-mouthed Las Vegas-based attorney tries to sneak into Columbus for “work,” concerned citizens deserve to know. HuffPost found out which flight Randazza was on.The process server went to the airport. Randazza gave him the slip. Eight hours later, locals saw a small bald man wearing hipster glasses who fit Anglin’s description inside a steakhouse where Randazza had gone to stuff a bone-in-filet mignon in his filthy craw.Bonus material for newsletter readers: also dining at the steakhouse that night was Bo Jackson, one of America’s all-time great athletes. What Bo didn’t know was that America’s most depraved Nazi might have been sitting a few tables away.Idiot pro-Trump troll and alt-lite Pizzagate conspiracy theorist Jack Prosobiec got booted from Bumble this week for violating its “values,” after a woman complained to the company about his presence on the dating site. Prosobiec is married. He denied the Bumble account belonged to him but Bumble told BuzzFeed the account was linked to Prosobiec’s official Facebook account. Prosobiec went into crisis mode, saying “everyone knows” he spends all his time with his “hot Eastern European wife” — whom he then interviewed in a deeply uncomfortable Periscope video. He also said he would be filing an “identify [sic] theft report with the FBI.”Blood and SoiledTo understand the dangers posed by today’s far-right extremists we need to listen to them. Each week, the Angry White Men blog highlights a snippet of conversation from an “alt-right” podcast to show you how fascists and racists really think. Don't say we didn't warn you, America….This week, in a special edition of their fledgling podcast Action!, neo-Nazis Matt Heimbach and Tony Hovater recalled their efforts to crash the recent “Women’s March” in Knoxville, Tennessee. Heimbach, the founder of the hate group Traditionalist Worker Party (TWP), isn’t shy about demeaning women as “sluts” and “thots” (“that ho over there”), which would explain his excitement over trolling feminist protesters. But he was mostly enthusiastic about taking a stand for life, and joining up with anti-abortion protesters who didn’t feel welcome in the pro-choice, pussy hat contingent. (For now I’ll spare you the discussion of what mental gymnastics it takes for an anti-Semite to consider himself a devout Christian, or a Holocaust denier to get worked up over the “mass murder” of fetuses.) The problem? Even among those rejected from the “Women’s March,” Heimbach et al. were rejects. As Hovater explained, “After we did the demo against the feminist march, we were going to march down and join the March for Life, actually…Well, apparently, they had been working with the police because they wanted to keep us out, on account of muh racism.” He complained that this meant pro-lifers “care more about what the Leftist press would say about them” if they joined with white supremacists than they do about abortion.Heimbach was disappointed that he and the rest of the TWP couldn’t act as “March for Life” hired goons, roughing up people who got too close. “This is exactly what the pro-lifers did in Knoxville, because we told them, we sent them an email, we said, ‘We’re not gonna bring our banners. We’re not gonna bring our flags. We’re not gonna make a big deal out of it. We just wanna come and support the ‘March for Life.’’”He claims to have been rebuffed by the march’s organizers, only to learn some pro-life protesters had been allegedly attacked by Antifa. “So if we had been there, of course our mission would’ve been able to follow all the laws of course, but to be able to protect and defend people that could not protect and defend themselves,” said Heimbach. Apparently not even the mainstream anti-abortion movement wants to associate with the very Christ-like guy who shoved a black woman at a Trump rally. Imagine that.Andrew Oswalt, a 27-year-old doctoral student at Oregon State University, was arrested this week for putting racist stickers on cars belonging to members of the group Showing Up For Racial Justice. “Racism is a horrible disease,” the stickers said. “You catch it from n****rs.” Oswalt gave grinned in his mugshot and was released from jail. Now he faces a charge of criminal mischief, and potentially a charge of intimidation. Local anti-fascist activists also uncovered photos of Oswalt at a white nationalist rally in Portland, where he threw up Nazi salutes and carried a swastika flag. Students at Oregon State, where Oswalt teaches advanced chemistry, are organizing a vote to recall Oswalt from the student government.Related links:White supremacy won't fall with just a few statues.
