The links are now all included below.)Joanna Gaines is best known as the co-star of HGTV’s "Fixer Upper," where she and her husband Chip transform shoddy houses into dream homes. But she's got some hidden cooking talent that we're discovering upon the release of her new cookbook, Magnolia Table.Celebrity cookbooks can be a bit ... hit or miss. Oftentimes it's embarrassingly obvious that the celebrity has never stepped foot in a kitchen, but that's refreshingly not the case with Magnolia Table. I had a chance to sample some of the recipes from the book at a media luncheon earlier this week, and the food was stellar. But even better, the book shares anecdotes about cooking that demonstrate a deep-rooted love for food and family. We scored three of those recipes, and I'm sharing them here with you today.XO, KristenJoJo's BiscuitsThese biscuits are everything a biscuit is supposed to be: tall, fluffy, flaky, flavorful, and so buttery that you don’t even need to spread more on top. They’re just salty enough to offset a sweet strawberry jam, but not so salty that they can’t handle a good slathering of pimento cheese.Chip eats two of these every Saturday morning: one with butter and strawberry jam, the other topped with sausage gravy. Do yourself a favor and make these for yourself, and you'll see why. (Hint: There's a special ingredient that makes the texture extra special.)Mom’s Bulgogi with Cucumber Kimchi Salad
Get the book for yourselfWe're sharing three of the recipes from Magnolia Table, but there are a whole lot more where those came from. The book is available now, so grab yourself a copy!Chocolate Chip Cookies If you’ve ever wondered what makes chocolate chip cookies chewy, crisp, soft, flat, thick, cakey or moist, the answer usually involves butter. It all depends how much you use, and whether you melt it, cream it or brown it.Rarely would anyone consider that using less butter would result in a superior cookie, but Joanna has somehow drawn a blueprint that works. Her recipe calls for one stick of butter, whereas traditional recipes call for at least twice that. Try her formula and watch the magic happen.Eat on: HuffPost is now a part of Oath and a part of Verizon.
