| No Images? Click here  There are those moments in parenting when you do the thing that seems annoying to you but means a lot to your kids. It happens to all of us, even Jennifer Garner. She wore a 12-foot-long scarf her kid made her because, even though it was excessively long, it made her kid happy. My whole weekend basically consisted of these moments.My older son is really into numbers, and he's just discovered that when watching a sports game, particularly a fast-moving sports game, the numbers can change multiple times a minute. Luckily for him, it's the NBA playoffs so there are a lot of games to watch. We've recorded all the games since Thursday — when this newfound obsession began — and have now watched old basketball games during breakfast and at night after dinner. Whole teams have come and gone from the playoffs but we’re still here, glued to the DVR. After he watches the game, he pretends to shoot hoops, all over the house shouting the score and asking us who we cheer for every 5 seconds.Yes, this is sweet. Yes, I'm happy to indulge his love of numbers. But MAN am I exhausted from hearing a 5 year old incessantly chatter all weekend.So now I'm using this forum to bemoan my ear drums and say that, though I'm very happy it's Monday and very fortunate to be able to leave for 8 hours a day, I know this time is fleeting. Soon enough he'll want to leave and play with his friends and not ask me what I think. Soon enough he's going to be so busy that we won't have time to talk about the games at bedtime — he'll just fall right asleep. Soon enough, he'll grow into the next, perhaps less-innocuous phase. And, no matter how exhausted I am now, I'll miss this.Parenthood is a whirlwind of constant differing emotions. And at least for right now — at a safe distance from the chaos I might add! — I'm very thankful.This is 100% accurate  Who doesn't love books?
