Meet the woman baking comfort pies.
|
|
Everyone is handling the events of the past week in their own way, and Rose McGee is no exception. She's a 69-year-old Minneapolis woman who's spent years baking her Sweet Potato Comfort Pies for communities experiencing tragedy, and now she's working to heal her own hometown by baking with neighbors and sharing pies with mourners, protesters and those in need of comfort.
Rose's perspective warmed my heart and lit a fire under me, reminding me that everyone can find their own way to contribute, using whatever gifts we've got. I hope you'll give it a read and feel inspired, as well.
XO, Kristen |

HuffPost spoke to senior staff at charitable organizations to learn whether food-insecure people in their cities are now even more at risk, and to gather a list of causes you can support. |
