Dear Good Life readers,How’s 2018 treating you so far?Personally, I feel like I’ve barely been able to keep up. I hit the ground running catching up on work, seeing friends and recovering from the chaos of the holidays. As a result, I haven’t taken a single step toward the resolutions I vowed to complete this year, like taking more exercise classes and cooking more dinners at home. My workouts have consisted of power walking to the subway, and my dinners at home are due more to delivery than my own chef skills. That has been super discouraging. If you’re like me, you might feel like giving up on these goals before you’re able to make them habits. But we need to remember that a new year doesn’t have to start on January 1. Any day is a good day to start to change your life. This year, whether you’re planning on giving up booze for “Dry” January, hoping to develop a better fitness routine, working to be more financially responsible or just wanting to prioritize self care, practice patience with yourself as you work toward those goals. (Here’s a little guide on how to stay motivated when you don’t feel like you can commit.)Change isn’t going to happen overnight. It may not even happen in the month of January. And that’s totally OK.Love, Lindsay Senior Wellness Editor, HuffPost Life Turn up the Wellness Jams Wellness Jams is a curated workout or relaxing playlist from celebrities, influencers and readers. We need to emotionally see it, believe it and then we will achieve it. One thing that I love utilizing is music throughout my day as personal pump-up anthems. Whether you're going to the gym or trying to feel more connected to your goal or needing to feel self-deserving of some me-time, each of these songs on my playlist help me feel more deeply connected to positivity, motivation and confidence. Chrissy Metz on body image: “You don’t realize that somebody who’s average or even very fit could relate to someone who’s overweight, but it’s not about our size — it’s how we look at ourselves and how we feel about ourselves.” Colton Haynes on therapy: “Therapy just kind of gives you resources to manage your life outside of therapy, so you can kind of wean yourself off of it a little bit.” Demi Lovato on eating disorder recovery: “Giving up my eating disorder has been the most challenging journey of my life but I work every day towards solid recovery even if I mess up sometimes. Today I’m feeling strong. You all can do it too. It IS possible.” No moon dust. No B.S. Just a completely essential daily guide to achieving the good life. Subscribe here. Like what you see?
