No Images? Click here I was driving with my kids this weekend when out of nowhere, my older son asked, “Mommy, how does Santa get up and down the chimney?” I panicked. I freaked. Was this the conversation and was it happening while I was driving?Calmly, I said: “Well, Santa just jumps down from the roof and lands in the fireplace, and I think he climbs up the chimney like Moana climbs up that rock wall when she meets Maui: He puts his feet on one side of the chimney and just shimmies up.” Pause. Were there going to be follow-up questions or had he moved on? He replied: “Yea, I think that’s how the Grinch does it, too, so that makes sense.” Phew. The Santa talk did not dovetail into a whole thing in which the magic of Christmas was totally ruined. Crisis averted. But it’s only a matter of time before I can’t wiggle my way out of these things.
