No Images? Click here Like many other 5-year-old kids I know, my son is struggling lately with anxiety. He’s chewing his clothing, afraid to fall asleep and generally doesn’t want to be 10 feet away from either me or my husband when we’re home.It’s gotten to be exhausting, not just for us, but I imagine for him, too. I also have anxiety and through therapy have learned how to mindfully think through the realities of various situations, but that’s obviously a lot harder for kids to do. How many times can I tell him that, no, a lion won’t come into his bedroom, when not 20 minutes down the road there are lions in the Bronx Zoo that, if you really suspend reality, could escape and make their way to our home? Doing the mental gymnastics of reasoning with a kindergartener is, it turns out, extremely taxing.As a result, I’m doing my research -- reading articles online, putting various books in my Amazon cart -- but I want to ask you, dear reader, for any tips that have helped you and yours.
