Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) was roundly criticized earlier this month for comments she tweeted about pro-Israel lobbying efforts that were viewed as anti-Semitic. She later apologize, but the harshness of the attack on Omar -- far more severe than, say, when the president says something racist -- brought up a lot of feelings for many black, Muslim women. Margari Aziza Hill (pictured above) felt a familiar sense of dread and a twinge of fear. A black Muslim woman like Omar, Hill saw her own experience reflected in the attacks on the freshman representative. And she was far from alone. Speaking to HuffPost reporter Rowaida Abdelaziz, black Muslim women described feeling assaulted by hatred across three dimensions, including anti-black racism, blatant sexism and anti-Muslim sentiment.
