No Images? Click here Welcome to your weekly dose of black newsHappy Black History Month, y'all! I know what you're thinking, "Girl where you been?" I don't believe in January so my new year doesn't start until Black History Month. 😂 In all seriousness, though, we have some really amazing things in store for you this month. Our BHM theme is "Black History Built This." Our goal is to challenge the revisionist history that has erased and whitewashed black history and ultimately has been passed down through generations. White people have watered our legacy down time and time again. Consider this as a month long of counter-programming aimed at refuting that and celebrating our history and our culture unapologetically. All month long, we will bring you stories, videos, photos and conversations that amplify our greatness and shine a light on our humanity, starting with “We Built This,” a photo series captured by Kris Graves highlighting a few of the change agents who are making history today, including Raquel Willis, Kid Fury, Rashad Robinson, William Jackson Harper and Danielle Brooks. We will also be sharing stories of doulas, war veterans, musicians, entrepreneurs and many others who deserve praise as the history makers of today’s and future generations. This month’s content isn’t a comprehensive look at our history, but it’s meant to help fill a void left by incomplete textbooks. As editor of HuffPost Black Voices, I believe we must tell our real and authentic stories, not for just 28 days a year, but for 365. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽 This week's Best Things 🎉 Jussie Smollett Stands Up Against Racist, Homophobic Attackers And Breaks His Silence"I'm OK," the "Empire" actor assured the public.
