ESTABLISHMENT DEMS BACK BIDEN IN RUSH TO STOP SANDERS On the eve of Super Tuesday, Pete Buttigieg, fresh off ending his bid for the White House, endorsed Joe Biden's 2020 Democratic campaign. Amy Klobuchar also said she was leaving the race and endorsed Biden. And Beto O’Rourke, who ended his own bid for the White House last year, joined the chorus of party moderates. [HuffPost]


SUPER TUESDAY: 5 THINGS TO WATCH The single largest day of voting in the 2020 presidential primary has arrived: Super Tuesday. Fourteen states, including California and Texas, as well as American Samoa and Democrats abroad, will cast ballots. TASK FORCE EXPERT CONTRADICTS TRUMP ON 'QUICK' VACCINE 

President Donald Trump promised Monday that “very exciting things are happening rapidly” on the coronavirus front, including a possible “quick” vaccine. U.S. VIRUS DEATH TOLL CLIMBS TO 6 IN WASHINGTON STATE

Six people have died in Washington state as the United States grapples with more than 100 cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Four of the people who died were residents at the Life Care Center nursing care facility in suburban Seattle. Four other coronavirus cases are also linked to the Life Care Center. [CNN]


CORONAVIRUS REACHES 'UNCHARTED TERRITORY' The head of the World Health Organization said that public health officials are operating in "uncharted territory" as they combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, which has infected more than 90,000 people across 73 countries and territories. To date, there have been 172 deaths reported outside mainland China, raising the global death toll to 3,115. [CNN]


TORNADOES KILL 2 IN NASHVILLE At least two tornadoes touched down early Tuesday in central Tennessee, killing two people and damaging dozens of structures. A tornado near downtown Nashville reportedly stayed on the ground into Hermitage, about 10 miles east of the city. Police officers and fire crews were responding to about 40 building collapses around the city. [AP]


CHRIS MATTHEWS QUITS MSNBC OVER SEXIST REMARKS 

MSNBC’s “Hardball” host Chris Matthews announced on air Monday that he’s resigning amid renewed criticism of his sexist behavior -- leaving a stunned Steve Kornacki to take over, live. “After conversation with MSNBC, I decided tonight will be my last ‘Hardball,’” the veteran cable host said, saying he wanted to bow to a younger generation with “better standards than we grew up with." ER DOCTOR SLAMS TRUMP ADMIN'S VIRUS-TESTING LOGJAM Infectious disease expert Matt McCarthy sounded the alarm about the critical lack of available testing for the new coronavirus, blasting it as a “national scandal” that has “hamstrung” health care professionals.  McCarthy, who is on staff at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan , complained on CNBC that he has to “plead” for COVID-19 testing for patients. NETANYAHU HOLDS SOLID LEAD IN ISRAELI ELECTIONS Exit polls indicate that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu holds a solid edge over his main rival in Israel’s third election in under a year. But it is unclear whether Netanyahu can clinch a parliamentary majority needed to claim victory. Exit polls on Israel’s main TV channels projected Netanyahu’s Likud Party and its religious and nationalist allies would capture 60 seats, leaving it one seat short of the majority needed to claim victory. PUTIN CALLS TO DEFINE MARRIAGE AS HETEROSEXUAL President Vladimir Putin has proposed amending the Russian constitution to spell out that marriage means a union between a man and a woman and nothing else. Putin has proposed a shakeup of Russia’s political system that critics say may be designed to extend his grip on power after 2024, when he is due to leave the Kremlin. [Reuters]


PRINCE ANDREW LET WOMEN SIT ON PALACE THRONE Prince Andrew reportedly had a “signature move” when it came to pursuing women. Two anonymous sources told The Daily Beast that the Duke of York let women sit on the thrones in the Throne Room in Buckingham Palace, including the one reserved for his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. He also let at least one woman wave from the balcony at the palace, something the royal family occasionally does during special events. [HuffPost]


DA'S HUSBAND POINTS GUN AT BLACK LIVES MATTER PROTESTER The husband of Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey pointed a gun at Black Lives Matter LA co-founder Melina Abdullah when she and other activists showed up at Lacey’s house Monday to request a community meeting. Activists have been requesting a meeting with Lacey for more than two years to discuss her office’s failure to prosecute police officers who kill civilians. [HuffPost]


HUSBAND OF 'DOOMSDAY MOM' SAYS MISSING KIDS ARE SAFE The step-father of two Idaho children missing since September told a reporter over the weekend that “the kids are safe” ― a rare public comment from the Doomsday author. Chad Daybell, the writer of several books about the end of times, reportedly made the tantalizing assertion to ABC News as he left Hawaii, where his wife Lori Vallow is in custody on charges related to her children’s disappearance.
