No Images? Click here Welcome to your weekly dose of Black newsHey fam! All weekend I've been taking time out to celebrate the life and legacy of iconic actress Diahann Carole. The Oscar-nominated actress and singer who won critical acclaim as the first black woman to star in a non-servant role in a TV series as “Julia,” died Friday at the age of 84. May she res tin power. I've also been enraged at the death of Joshua Brown, Botham Jean's neighbor and a key witness that led to the conviction of Amber Guyger. Though her conviction may signal potential progress in police finally being held accountable for killing Black people, the killing of Brown just three days after the conviction is beyond disturbing. Lee Merrit, the attorney for Jean’s family, says Brown's mother suspects foul play. “He had no known enemies. He worked for a living. He was not in the streets,” he wrote on Facebook. “We need answers. Immediately.” This week's best news ✨‘Girlfriends’ Reunion In Full Effect In This Sneak Peek Of ‘Black-ish’“Reunited and it feels so good,” Tracee Ellis Ross wrote on Instagram.Michelle Obama Pens Sweet Anniversary Note To Barack: ‘Still Feeling The Magic’I miss them so much! 😩Notes from the mailbag 📫We want to hear from you! Each week we'll have a new question or topic.
