Trump claimed the whistleblower reported “false information.” Meanwhile, longtime GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley defended the whistleblower, saying the person “ought to be heard out and protected.” [HuffPost]HONG KONG POLICE SHOOT PROTESTER IN CHEST Fierce clashes between pro-democracy protesters and police broke out in multiple parts of Hong Kong as the Chinese Communist Party celebrated its 70th year in power. A Hong Kong police official said a pro-democracy protester was shot when an officer opened fire with his revolver during the clashes. [AP]NORTH KOREA TESTS ANOTHER MISSILE North Korea fired a ballistic missile from the sea on Wednesday, South Korea’s military said, a suggestion that it may have tested an underwater-launched missile for the first time in three years ahead of a resumption of nuclear talks with the United States this weekend. [AP]Businessman Ralph Taylor, who learned he is 4% Black from a DNA test, is classified as Black by his state government and White by the federal government. This racial inconsistency means he’s eligible for affirmative action programs in Washington state, but not in Washington, D.C. But critics say he’s abusing the program and undermining the very concept of racial identity.
