Her mother, Tereasa Martin, told the Chicago Tribune that she last saw her daughter around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, when the girl went out with some friends to a party to celebrate getting a new job. Jenkins reportedly spoke to her sister around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. She went missing a short time later.![]() Six black women currently hold the title of police chief in North Carolina, marking the first time this has happened in state history. Among them are Raleigh’s Cassandra Deck-Brown, Durham’s C.J. Davis, Morrisville’s Patrice Andrews and Fayetteville’s Gina Hawkins, all of whom spoke to the local station last week about their experiences being women of color in leadership positions within the force.Safety concerns in Chicago have led to a surge in the number of black women receiving a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Since Illinois began issuing these licenses in 2014, the number of black women who obtain a permit has increased each year in Cook County. In 2014, about 800 black women received a permit.
