No Images? Click here This week folks are calling out white supremacists, and President Trump.A Miss America contestant skewered President Trump for not calling out white supremacists who rallied in Charlottesville earlier. And South Park’s season kicked off with an episode-long jab at white nationalists. But it was ESPN’s Jemele Hill who caught heat after tweeting that “Donald Trump is a white supremacist.” ESPN distanced themselves from the tweets, and a White House aide went so far as to call them “a fireable offense” in a press briefing. Hill stood her ground, keeping the tweets up and stating they “expressed [her] personal beliefs.” It seems that calling out white supremacy only comes with consequences for black people.Meanwhile, Congress is waiting on Trump to sign a resolution condemning hate groups and calling Heyer’s death domestic terrorism. As for DACA, Trump has been sending seriously mixed messages: After top Democrats announced an informal deal was reached, Trump said that actually no deal was made. So we’ll just wait here, while the fates of 800,000 young undocumented folks hang in the balance. On the upside, street artists are turning swastikas into love-filled art.White supremacy won't fall with just a few statues. Keep up with the story here.©2017 HuffPost | 770 Broadway, New York, NY 10003 |
