Testifying at his confirmation hearing, Barr said he didn’t believe that Mueller’s report was required to be made public and that the final document would be “confidential,” but he would issue a public summary of its findings. [HuffPost] [Tweet | Share on Facebook] SENATE ADVANCES RUSSIAN SANCTIONS RESOLUTION The Senate voted to advance a resolution that would reverse the Trump administration’s decision to relax sanctions on three Russian companies linked to oligarch Oleg Deripaska, a close ally of President Vladimir Putin. Eleven Republicans joined all Democrats in supporting the resolution in a 57-42 vote ― a major rebuke of the Trump administration, which mounted a last-minute lobbying effort led by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to table the measure. [HuffPost] MCCONNELL WON'T OVERRIDE TRUMP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) rejected the prospect of overriding a presidential veto on a bill to reopen the federal government. “In a situation like this where the president in my view is in the right place trying to get the right outcome… of course not,” McConnell said when asked by an NBC News reporter if he would try to reopen the government with a veto override.
