I often catch myself thinking things like, “if I lose weight, I know I’d be happier.” Pinning my happiness on an achievement in the future is a toxic thought, one of 14 that therapists say are sabotaging our happiness.As reporter Nicole Pajer discovered when writing this story, so many of us have these automatic negative thoughts (“I should have” and “I’m such an idiot” are two other common ones).
