Unfortunately for President Donald Trump, the move is more symbolic than meaningful, with the measure unlikely to come up for a vote in the House. [HuffPost] [Tweet | Share on Facebook]TRUMP RESPONDS TO RELEASE OF SECRET COHEN TAPE Trump finally responded to his former lawyer Michael Cohen’s audio tape in which he discusses a payment to former Playboy model Karen McDougal -- with whom Trump allegedly had an affair -- saying the recording was “cut while I was presumably saying positive things.” Experts claim the release likely means Cohen is ready to make a deal. When asked about the tape, a spokeswoman for first lady Melania Trump brushed off the question. According to The Washington Post, prosecutors have more than 100 recordings secretly made by Cohen. [AP]TRUMP AGREES TO ‘MAJOR CONCESSION’ IN EU TRADE DISPUTE Trump has agreed not to impose car tariffs on the European Union while the two sides continue negotiations on other trade disputes, temporarily easing the threat of a transatlantic trade war. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker called it a ‘major concession’ by the U.S. president. [Reuters]BORIS AND BANNON IN ‘REGULAR CONTACT’ BuzzFeed claims former U.K. Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, one of the frontrunners to be the next British prime minister, has been in regular contact with Trump’s former adviser Steve Bannon, who is openly plotting to help right-wing nationalists and populists win across the continent. [BuzzFeed]EMOLUMENTS CASE AGAINST TRUMP WILL GO AHEAD A federal court ruled that a landmark case arguing that Trump violated the Constitution by accepting foreign government money will go forward.
