Click here  Monday, July 30 TRUMP AGAIN THREATENS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN President Donald Trump has threatened to shut down the federal government ahead of the midterm elections if Democrats do not agree to fund his wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. The deadline to agree to fresh funding for the government is Sept. 30. He tweeted in 2017 that maybe the country needed a "good shutdown" over wall funding, but backed down. In a statement, A.G. Sulzberger said: “My main purpose for accepting the meeting was to raise concerns about the president’s deeply troubling anti-press rhetoric. I told the president directly that I thought that his language was not just divisive but increasingly dangerous.” [HuffPost] PENCE BACKS REPORTER BAN Vice President Mike Pence has stood by a White House decision to ban a CNN reporter from a press event last week, citing the need to maintain “decorum.” According to a Washington Post report, Trump has repeatedly tried to ban reporters he doesn’t like. [HuffPost] KOCH: TRUMP ADMINISTRATION ‘DIVISIVE’ Libertarian megadonor Charles Koch, whose spent tens of millions helping Republicans win elections over several cycles, has slammed the Trump administration as “divisive” and warned its trade policies could spark a recession.
