2020 DEMS TARGET 'MONEY MIKE' With the Nevada caucuses less than a week away, Democratic presidential candidates are fixated on a rival who isn’t contesting the state. CALIFORNIA TO FORMALLY APOLOGIZE FOR INTERNMENT OF JAPANESE AMERICANS California is poised to formally apologize to all Americans of Japanese heritage for the state’s role it the internment of more than 120,000 people during World War II. On Thursday, the California Assembly is expected to approve HR-77, which details a series of profound civil rights abuses perpetrated against Americans in 1942 at the height of anti-Japanese hysteria. AMERICANS EVACUATED FROM CRUISE SHIP LAND IN U.S. WITH CORONAVIRUS Fourteen of the 300 Americans evacuated from a cruise ship in Japan where they had been quarantined were discovered infected with the coronavirus shortly before they boarded a chartered flight bound for California, U.S. authorities said. All of the passengers have now landed in the U.S., The Washington Post reported. The coronavirus has infected more than 71,000 people globally, mostly in mainland China. The death toll is 1,775, including five people outside mainland China. [CNN]


ARIZONA CREW MEMBER WHO SURVIVED PEARL HARBOR DIES Donald Stratton, one of the remaining USS Arizona crew members who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor, died at his Colorado Springs home over the weekend. The 97-year-old veteran had been in poor health since October. “He was a very humble, very quiet hero,” said his son, Randy Stratton. “He didn’t want or seek the attention he received.” [AP]


BUTTIGIEG RESPONDS TO LIMBAUGH'S HOMOPHOBIC REMARKS 

Pete Buttigieg shrugged off Rush Limbaugh’s homophobic remarks about his marriage, saying he isn’t going to “take lectures on family values” from the right-wing radio host ― a man known for pushing racist, sexist and anti-LGBTQ views. “I love my husband,” Buttigieg told CNN’s “State Of The Union.” [HuffPost]

1,100 EX-JUSTICE OFFICIALS TELL BARR TO QUIT More than 1,100 former federal prosecutors and Justice Department officials are calling on Attorney General William Barr to resign following reports Barr and President Donald Trump intervened in the criminal prosecution of Trump’s friend Roger Stone. In an open letter, the former officials say Barr broke Justice Department rules when he overruled federal prosecutors in Stone’s criminal case. [HuffPost]


ALABAMA LAWMAKER INTRODUCES MANDATORY VASECTOMY BILL Following the passage of Alabama’s controversial abortion ban last year, a Democratic state lawmaker has introduced a bill that would require all men to get vasectomies at the age of 50 to reduce unwanted pregnancies. Under the measure, men would be required to get vasectomies within a month of turning 50, or after their third child is born. They would have to pay for the procedure themselves. [HuffPost]


NEW YORK 14-YEAR-OLD FACES MURDER CHARGES New York police arrested a 14-year-old boy who they said fatally stabbed a teenage woman during a brutal Manhattan robbery two months ago that stunned the city amid a decades-long decline in crime rates.
