Hey fam!

Happy Black History Month! I hope you missed us as much as we missed y'all. I'm really excited to celebrate our history and culture all month long with y'all. This year, our theme is "We Belong Here." Because we do. No matter how much society attempts to invalidate our right to take up space. We built this, so we belong here.

We kicked off this month with a powerful project highlighting the beauty, versatility and uniqueness of black hair, "Black Hair Defined." Ja'han Jones, reporter and mastermind behind this project, penned a powerful essay and created a digital museum showcasing how gracefully we rock our crowns. Here's what he had to say about working on the project:

"Building this was a months-long process and one of the most rewarding aspects was seeing everyone light up on camera during our photoshoots. Hair is one of the first things we interact with when we wake up: perhaps, we run our fingers through it, we scratch our heads, we see it in the mirror when we brush our teeth -- despite it being so visible, it's very intimate. So with the understanding that each participant was sharing something deeply personal, being able to dedicate 30-45 minutes solely to that thing — hair they spend time, energy, and love on each day — brought a lot of joy."

Check out the full project below.
