Plus some self-care activities that won't break your wallet. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

The Instagram version of self-care is pretty alluring. Who doesn't aspire to slap on a fancy face mask in bed, surrounded by perfumed candles and zero responsibilities, after sweating out stress at a boutqiue fitness studio?

Sadly, we live in reality and we're slammed with to-do lists and budgets. We can't always execute the scenario above. However, there are plenty of ways you can practice self-care that are quick and cost next to nothing. Reporter Kelsey Borresen rounded them up here.

If you need me, I'll be trying some of these out this week. Then getting back to that to-do list, of course.

❤️,

Lindsay

We've all experienced a restless night from time to time ― even sleep doctors. Curious what the pros do when they can't seem to catch some Zzzs? Reporter Kelsey Borresen got the scoop. (Spoiler: You don't have to count sheep.)

A minute and change

Got a spare minute? Use it to change your life. Our "A Minute And Change" series will help you become happier, healthier and more productive by doing one thing a little differently. This week's tip comes from Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Radhika Jones on the weekly habit that helps her decompress from her job. (While it specifically mentions her line of work, the advice can really apply to everyone.) She told The Cut:

I try to make sure to schedule some nonwork friend time at least once or twice a week, even if it’s just a drink or a breakfast, because I find that it’s very helpful to have perspective from people who aren’t necessarily wrapped up in the media world.

Before you go...

Spend some time diving into Pain in America, our HuffPost series on chronic pain and the opioid crisis. I was particularly moved by this piece on what it's really like to live with chronic pain from reporter Julia Ries. It's an insightful project that hopefully will help a lot of people who live with debilitating pain conditions.
