Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE doing my taxes? I actually ran to the mailbox Saturday when my W-2 arrived. It helps that my taxes are not complicated, but above all, I just love getting something so major off my plate. And I love getting them filed before a potential scammer can file in my name, which brings me to perhaps the most important advice of the spring: The IRS is not calling you. Don't fall for that.

Her story prompted people to email Vice by the hundreds with their own tales of being scammed by hosts exploiting AirBNB's loose rules and loopholes. Vice broke these stories into categories that comprise an extremely necessary checklist for spotting scammers. Don't book your next vacation without reading.

The last couple of years have been even more confusing for taxpayers than usual. Thanks to major changes stemming from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, Americans who file their 2019 taxes this season are less likely to claim the same deductions they did in the past (and less likely to get a refund). Even so, several unusual deductions were left off the chopping block, and some were even expanded. If you thought you wouldn’t qualify to itemize your taxes this year, you may be able to after all by claiming one of these absurd remaining deductions.
