No Images? Click here Dear readers, The best iPhone tip I ever learned came from a soldier I met in a bar. It somehow came up that I'd recently wasted an entire morning searching for my car in an airport parking garage, having confused which section of the lot I was in. (You know, that thing when you think you're in row E of "Flamingo," but your car is really sitting in row E of "Dolphin." Good times.) "I always drop a pin," he told me, and this simple GPS wizardry turned out to be the perfect advice for hitting up outlet malls, going to sporting events and music festivals, and other times I might not remember exactly where I left my car, despite being a functional adult. It's definitely easier than chanting "row 80, section yellow" over and over until you're ready to leave. Here's how to do it: After you park and before you wander away from your car, pull up the Maps app.Hit the "current location" arrow in the top right corner. A pulsing blue dot will appear to indicate exactly where you're standing. Now, tap the blue dot. Select "mark my location" to record your position, and if you're with a friend, you can then choose "share" to text the pin so they have it, too. When you're ready to find your car, just open your Maps app again. The pin should show up automatically, or you can search for "marked location" to pull it back up.You can also use a dropped pin to note where your friends are sitting at a music festival, share a precise meet-up spot in a park, or tell a blind date where to find you in a big crowd. Whether or not you're thankful for that last one is up to you. Janie The best financial moves to make in 2018Like Cardi B, we're all about money moves. While a couple of the smartest things you can do this year can make the present day a little more flush -- if you're married, for example, you should stop paying car insurance as if you're single -- others set you up for a better future. This is especially true for those of us who may be caregivers for parents or partners down the road -- a common life stage that can greatly affect or alter the caregiver's work trajectory, retirement plans and nest egg. Here are just a few of the questions you should ask this year to ensure it won't decimate your finances later.Pro Tip:
