Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who is running for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020, said he believes the filibuster process needs some reform, but he doesn’t want to get rid of it. And people who do should be wary. “Donald Trump supports the ending of the filibuster. So you should be a little bit nervous if Trump supports it.” [HuffPost]COLLEGE SCAM PARENTS CONFESS Felicity Huffman and 13 other defendants in a massive college admissions bribery scandal agreed to plead guilty to charges of bribery and fraud. The 13 parents admitted to “using bribery and other forms of fraud to facilitate their children’s admission to selective colleges and universities.” [HuffPost]BOOKER WOULD OFFER BILL TO STUDY REPARATIONS Presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) announced he plans to introduce a bill to set up a federal examination of the effect of slavery and ongoing racial discrimination on black communities, an effort that would include making recommendations on reparations for slave descendants. [HuffPost]SMALLVILLE ACTRESS PLEADS GUILTY IN SEX CULT CASE Former “Smallville” cast member Allison Mack has pleaded guilty to racketeering charges in connection with cult-like group NXIVM based in upstate New York. Mack confessed that she was a part of a secret master-slave group within the group called DOS, and that she kept a slave for herself and had women members “perform services for me.” [HuffPost]
 TRUMP CALLS IRAN’S GUARD FORCE TERRORISTS Trump announced that the U.S. is designating Iran’s Revolutionary Guard a “foreign terrorist organization” in an effort to increase pressure on the country that could have significant diplomatic implications in the Middle East. It is the first time that the U.S. has designated a part of another government as a terrorist organization. [HuffPost]STATE DEPARTMENT BANS 16 WITH LINKS TO KHASHOGGI KILLING The U.S. State Department has publicly identified 16 people it believes had “roles in the murder of Jamal Khashoggi,” the Saudi journalist who was killed in Turkey in October. They and their immediate family are now banned from U.S. soil. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who reportedly ordered the journalist’s assassination, was not among those named. [HuffPost]“TRUMP COACHED BORDER AGENTS TO LIE” During his visit to the U.S.-Mexico border in California last week, Trump personally instructed border agents to illegally block all incoming immigrants and then lie to judges about it, CNN host Jake Tapper said on “Reliable Sources.” According to the sources, the president instructed agents to say, “Sorry, judge, I can’t do it. We don’t have the room” if judges questioned them, Tapper said. [HuffPost]BERNIE: FOX IS PROPAGANDA, BUT I’M GOING ANYWAY Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is standing by his decision to do a town hall on Fox News, saying it’s important to distinguish between the network and its viewers. Still, he said he believes the conservative network is largely a propaganda arm of Trump’s administration. [HuffPost]GLACIERS MELTING FASTER THAN WE THOUGHT Earth’s glaciers are melting much faster than scientists thought. A new study shows they are losing 369 billion tons of snow and ice each year, more than half of that in North America. Thousands of inland masses of snow compressed into ice are shrinking 18 percent faster than an international panel of scientists calculated in 2013. [AP]BILL WOULD FORCE MINORS TO GET PARENTAL CONSENT FOR ABORTIONS A bill introduced in the Florida state legislature would require teenagers to obtain parental consent before seeking an abortion. State law currently requires a parent or guardian to be notified if their minor child is having an abortion. But HB 1335 would go further, requiring a physician to obtain their notarized written consent. [HuffPost]
