Do you think birth control pills should be available without a prescription?My colleague, Sarah Ruiz-Grossman reported last week that Democratic Rep. Ayanna Pressley (Mass.) wants women to be able to get birth control over the counter and she's pushing for new legislation to do it. Pressley introduced the “Affordability is Access” act ― co-sponsored by other Democratic women lawmakers including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) ― which would require insurance companies to cover oral contraception, like daily birth control pills, and have it be available over the counter without the need for a doctor’s prescription.
