Hi! Hope everyone is hanging in there. I’m writing this from my new home office, aka the dining room while my 10-month-old plays alongside me.


The coronavirus pandemic has changed everything for Americans: Group gatherings are prohibited, businesses and schools are closed and parents have become their kids’ teachers. And for couples who’ve spent months — years, even — planning weddings, those are now likely postponed.


That’s the case for our own senior reporter Kelsey Borresen. She was set to get married this weekend with half her guests flying into Southern California from the East Coast. As news of the pandemic worsened, she and her fiancé faced a tough decision: postpone and potentially lose thousands of dollars, or have a small ceremony without the people who mean the most to them in the world.
