But can getting the vaccine (inadvertently) make you sick? We found out, plus we got some other answers about the shot from doctors. Bottom line: The flu shot is always a good idea. It has officially transitioned into fall, which means cold weather (yuck) and lots of people sneezing around you (major yuck). The risk for the flu is high and I know I’m certainly heading to my doctor ASAP to get the vaccine. Stay healthy and sniffle free out there, for yourself and for the people around you. —Lindsay You oughta know It’s normal to have a few go-to coping techniques when you experience anxiety. Here’s what you should know: Safety behaviors enable your anxiety. Safety behaviors are coping techniques that reinforce whatever is provoking your anxiety by telling your brain that you can’t handle the situation without that item or habit. Think relying on your phone when you’re at a party or always positioning yourself near an exit. It’s better to confront your triggers rather than avoid them. Experts say avoiding what prompts your anxiety can actually make your triggers worse in the long run. Confronting them in small doses, especially with the help of a mental health professional, can help you overcome your anxiety altogether.
