Trump floats pardon for Paul Manafort in Mueller probe

Click here         Nancy Pelosi wins Democratic Speaker nomination  Despite a group of Democrats vowing to block her, Nancy Pelosi cruised through an internal House Democratic Caucus vote Wednesday to effectively secure the nomination of her party to return as speaker. Pelosi won the caucus vote 203-32, with three blank ballots and one absence, in an uncontested race. (A total of 239 votes were cast because Democrats allowed ballots from delegates, who won’t get to participate in the House floor vote.) The Democratic leader came away with a slightly stronger vote than expected, but, as the 32 votes against Pelosi indicate, her work isn’t done. READ MORE     Trump floats potential pardon for Paul Manafort in Mueller probe  President Donald Trump publicly floated the possibility that he’d pardon former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort in connection with the special counsel investigation led by Robert Mueller.  Trump, in an interview with the New York Post, made the dubious claim that he’d never discussed pardoning Manafort, but said he wouldn’t “take it off the table.” READ MORE In perhaps the most contentious battle for House Democratic leadership, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) beat out fellow Congressional Black Caucus member Barbara Lee (Calif.) to take the Democratic Caucus chairman position, the No. 5 spot in Democratic leadership in that chamber. With the top Democratic leadership positions uncontested, the caucus chairman position became somewhat of a proxy election for calls of new blood in leadership.
