It’s about what’s right for your kid developmentally and emotionally. Many of the kids I know get phones when they enter middle school — which makes sense as they start walking to school on their own, among a myriad of reasons. But if you’re thinking about it — or wondering what’s to come — what should you really be thinking about? Too real  #funkillingmom  As Jennifer Garner asked: “Is this a nine year old burn? Or the ultimate compliment?”Food for thought: I took off the end of last week for some much-needed self-care. I turned off all the alerts on my phone for an entire day, so the only people who could reach me were my husband, sitter, my parents and my kid’s school. I got a massage. I ran errands so alarmingly efficiently that I had hours left in my day. It was glorious. All this to say, in all the chaos of parenting, it’s easy to forget the simple acts of taking care of YOU, and doing things on your own time frame once in a while. Especially as the insanity of the holidays quickly approaches, I highly recommend taking some you time if you’re able… even if it’s running errands without having to deal with car seats.
