No Images? Click here Mother’s Day, I’m sure you’re aware, is Sunday. I have no grand plans — no brunch, because when was the last time brunch with your kids was worth it?! — and will probably wind up sleeping in and having my coffee in peace while my husband takes the kiddos to their T-ball game. And honestly, this sounds blissful to me.But what I think I want more than anything is to have a day with my kids where I make zero decisions. Which is not to say I find myself overwhelmed with decisions regularly. It’s just that I’d really love a day without all the whining about the decisions I make for my kids (i.e. their meals, among many other things). I want a day to just enjoy their company without having to think and just play.Don’t get me wrong, my kids are delightful and I enjoy them immensely already. But this 24/7 parenting thing is incredibly hard. I just want a day to be their buddy.I’m curious: do you have any fun or quirky traditions with your family? Let me know at katea@huffpost.com.I love these board books from the Bright Start series. Each title — there are two books so far and two coming in the fall — deals with learning emotional intelligence. Buy “Feel Better Daddy” here. For when your kid is keeping you awake I loved this easy, sweet piece from The Atlantic called “The Moms Who Were Extremely Online In 1993, about what could be considered one of the first internet-based parenting groups. It’s about enduring friendships, the early days of parenting on the internet and, at its heart, the basic goodness of people. You’ll love starting your week reading this, promise.More stories from the trenches: 👋You may have noticed our website is now www.huffpost.com.
