But what happens when you realize you may actually be, despite all your efforts, raising a jerk?My sons are wonderful, don’t get me wrong. They are kind, smart, giving and (*knocks wood*) healthy. But my older son has been going through a phase in which he’s just kind of, well, a dick. He’s rude to those closest to him, and is competitive as hell. Thanks to the holiday, we were all together for an extended period of time, which was lovely, but it also put his behavior under a multi-day microscope. And I’m not a fan of what I saw.So, dear village, please tell me I’m not alone in my 6-year-old boy’s behavior. He wasn’t always like this, so I’m hopeful he’ll grow out of it. But for those of you who have been through this, do you have any wisdom or tricks to help me (and those who love him) teach him patience and selflessness?
